Helmut Kinz was a Sturmbannführer (Major) in the Waffen SS during World War II. Who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.

Sturmbannführer Helmut Kinz was awarded the Knight's Cross when in command of the 13th Waffen Gebirgs Reconnaissance Battalion, 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar (1st Croatian) near the end of the war on the 3 May 1945.[1][2]
