Hed Kandi is a UK-based record label and a music brand which was established in 1999 by Mark Doyle, specialising in funky, soulful house music. Hed Kandi's catalogue includes both artist albums and various genres of club compilations. As well as producing music albums and compilations, Hed Kandi host events all over the world. From their famous Saturday night parties in Ibiza to pool parties in Las Vegas, their distinct brand of uplifting house music accompanied by a live saxophonist and percussion player can be found in every corner of the globe.

History

The record label has made a lot of collections, like Back to Love and Beach House, with cds produced in UK, USA and Australia.

Hed Kandi originally opened up in 1997 under Jazz FM and released their first compilation 'Nu Cool', in 1999, the company went private and gradually transformed into what it has become today. In 2002 they held their first club night in London, today they run hundreds of nights a year in clubs across the world. They have also had several chart hits including Stonebridge's 'Put 'em High'.

In January 2006, Hed Kandi Records was acquired by the UK record company Ministry of Sound for an undisclosed sum.[1] Since then, Mark Doyle and his team created a new record label, Fierce Angel. The leadership of Hed Kandi was taken over by Dan Baxter, who had previously worked for the label/brand when it was owned by UK media company, the Guardian Media Group. As of 2009 the Hed Kandi brand, together with Ministry of Sound, belonged to the MSHK Group.[2]

In February, 2011 Hed Kandi America partnered up with ME Hotels to hold monthly events on their resorts and hotels in Cancun and Cabo San Lucas.[3]

The Brand has also opened up various factions across the world outside there central London HQ including Hed Kandi America, Hed Kandi France, Hed Kandi Asia, Hed Kandi Germany and Hed Kandi Australia & New Zealand.

Fashion

Hed Kandi also sell a range of clothing, fragrances, make-up and straightners/hairdryers.

FlyKandi

The Brand partnered with Monarch Airlines to offer flights to various clubbing destinations in Europe such as Ibiza, Cyprus, Tenerife & Barcelona from airports in major British cities such as Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol and London's Gatwick & Heathrow.

Audio Equipment

Hed Kandi have put out a range of audio equipment, including headphones and iPod speakers.

Bars

The brand currently own and operate three bars, the 'Hed Kandi Bar' in Clapham, London, the 'Hed Kandi Beach Bar' in Hurghada, Egypt and the 'Hed Kandi Bar' in Ibiza, In late summer of 2011, a Hed Kandi Bar in Brighton is set to open.

Stores

Two stores are operated by the brand, one in the Liverpool One in Liverpool, England and one in the Bluewater in Greenhithe, Kent, England. Both recently were forced to shut down due to demand.

Artwork

Much of the cover artwork for the Hed Kandi records has been designed by the illustrator Jason Brooks.[4] Hed Kandi albums are generally recognizable by a vector illustration of a female dancing/clubbing, along with Hed Kandi's logo and album name.
