The Heckscher State Parkway is an 8.24-mile (13.26 km) long parkway in Suffolk County, New York. The western terminus is at the Sagtikos State Parkway in West Islip, where it continues west as the Southern State Parkway. The eastern terminus is at the entrance to Heckscher State Park in Great River. The Heckscher State Parkway comprises the eastern portion of New York State Route 908M, an unsigned reference route, with the Southern occupying the western section.
There is very little to indicate the actual existence of the parkway's name, as it is signed as an extension of the Southern State Parkway. Exceptions, however, are located along NY 27 and NY 27A.

The Heckscher State Parkway begins at interchange 41A off of the Southern State Parkway, which changes names to the Heckscher.[2] The Heckscher begins going to the east, interchanging with Suffolk County Route 13 in North Bay Shore at exits 42S/N. The Heckscher continues to the east before turning to the northeast soon after. New York State Route 111 (NY 111) interchanges with the Heckscher at 3.97 miles (6.39 km) in Islip Terrace. Just before turning towards the south, Suffolk County Route 17 interchanges at exit 43A. The Heckscher turns to the south, interchanging with NY 27 in Islip Terrace at 6 miles (10 km). The spur route for Route 27 comes after at exits 45E/W. As the Heckscher inches closer to its terminus, it interchanges one more time, with Timber Point Road at exit 46. The Heckscher State Parkway comes to an end at the toll booths for Heckscher State Park.[2]
It originally was a two lane road in 1930 labeled the Southern State Parkway Heckscher Spur stretching from NY 27A in Islip to the Heckscher State Park on the south shore.[3] The official Parkway was started in 1959, along with the reconstruction of the interchange between the Sagtikos State Parkway and the Southern State Parkway.[4] From there the parkway shows more modern parkway design, with extended medians, and features a unique dual service road that goes both ways (Spur Drive North and South). The parkway was completed in November 1962.[5]
The entire route is in Suffolk County.
