Haziq-ul-Khairi

Haziq-ul-Khairi (Urdu: حازق‌ الخيری ) (b. November 5, 1931) was the 11th Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan and has remained a Judge of the Sindh High Court, Provincial Ombudsman (Sindh), Pakistan and ex-member, Council of Islamic Ideology, Government of Pakistan.

Haziq-ul-Khairi was born in Delhi on the 5th day of November, 1931 in a literary family. Haziq-ul-Khairi is the son of late Mr. Raziq-ul-Khairi, Editor ISMAT and Begum Amna Nazli, short story writer and grandson of late Allama Rashid-ul-Khairi, an outstanding social reformer and reputed writer of Urdu Language. He got early education at Anglo Arabic Senior Secondary School, Ajmeri Gate, Delhi and in Karachi where he migrated with his family after independence of Pakistan. He graduated in Arts in 1954 and got Masters Degree in Political Science and LL.B. in 1956 from Sindh Muslim College, University of Karachi. He had been the Principal of Sindh Muslim Government Law College (1981–1988). Haziq-ul-Khairi practised as Advocate Supreme court of Pakistan till his elevation as judge High court of Sindh (1988). He is a short story writer and play writer and author of 'Guzarti Shaab' a collection of short stories published in 1961. Former honorary Secretary 'Pakistan's Writer's Guild' Karachi region in 1966-1969. Haziq-ul-Khairi is the Chairman, Thinker’s Forum (Hamdard Shura) Karachi, Chief Patron SAARC Health Pakistan, Member Syndicate, Baqai Medical University, President, Central and West Asian Studies, University of Karachi, Member of Trustees Transparency International (Pakistan), Member, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and President, Anglo-Arabic School and College Old Boys Association.

Justice Haziq-ul-Khairi attended various seminars/conferences. Haziq-ul-Khairi is ex-officio: Member, National Judicial Policy Making Committee, Member, Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan, Member, Advisory Board of the Al-Mizan Foundation, Member, Administration Committee of Al-Mizan Foundation, Member, Board of Governor, Board of Trustees, Council of Trustees and Selection Board of the International Islamic University, Islamabad.
