Hatiar

The Hatiar are a Jat tribe found in the province of Punjab in Pakistan. They are found mainly in the districts of Gujrat and Sargodha. The Hatiar are said to get their name from the fact that they are alleged to have practiced female infanticide, their name being a corruption of the Sanskrit hatiari meaning killers. Their customs are similar to neighbouring Jat tribes, and they are entirely Muslim. [1]
