Happy Valley Station

Happy Valley Station was a proposed railway station on the South Island Line (East) but will no longer be built. It would have served the Happy Valley area and the Happy Valley Racecourse.

History

The station appeared as Happy Valley Station in previous proposals, and was listed in alignment C in the 2005 proposal, which, if chosen, would have been built together with an interchange with the Island Line at Wan Chai. However, the route via Wan Chai was dismissed in favour of a direct route from Ocean Park to Admiralty, though an option to en route Happy Valley was offered. The construction of the station was the subject of negotiations between MTR Corporation and Hong Kong Jockey Club, which suggested renaming the station as Racecourse Station, already used by another existing station on East Rail Line.[1]

In January 2009, the government decided not to construct the station after considering economic efficiency, construction time, nuisance to residents and interruption to traffic.[2]
