हंसवरis a small town in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, India, located east of Tanda. According to the 2001 census, the town had a population of 45,678. Demographically, Hanswar resembles the rest of the Purvanchal area in which it is located: a primarily rural agricultural population with moderate literacy and a low human development index.

Hanswar is once an industrial village famous for its Terricot clothes.In Hanswar a very famous textile .The textile industry was destroyed by the government, and there is currently no business. People are emigrating to other cities or other nations. Most of the people are living in poverty. There is a four to five hour daily power supply, which is the main reason behind the destruction of textile industry

Hanswar lake is located at the Hanswar end of the Bhulepur and Semaur. By volume of water, it is also the largest lake in Ambedkarnagar has a larger surface area, but it is often disregarded as it is directly connected to the Ghaghara (Gogra) River
