Hall i' th' Wood railway station ( /ˈælɪðwʊd/)[1] is the last stop before Bolton on the Northern Rail franchise's "Ribble Valley Line" line into Blackburn and Clitheroe.

The station opened on 29 September 1986.[2] It is located in the middle of a housing estate and forms an unofficial footpath between the two sides.[3] In March 2008 work began on a new car park for the station.[4]

The name is not a misprint - generations of local accents and dialects have ensured Hall i' th' Wood maintains its local spelling. It takes its name from the nearby Hall i' th' Wood, now a museum which is within walking distance of the station.

Services

The station has a basic hourly service in each direction (including Sundays), northwards to Blackburn & Clitheroe and southwards to Bolton & Manchester Victoria. Additional services call at peak periods.
