Hajapar

Hajapar is village in Bhuj Taluka of Kachchh District of Gujarat State of India. It is located at a distance of about 18 km from Bhuj. One nearby village is Reha.

History

About the history of Hajapar it is one of the 19 villages founded by Kutch Gurjar Kshatriyas or Mistris.These Mistris first moved in to Saurashtra in early 7th century and later a major group entered Kutch in 12th century & established themselves at Dhaneti. Later from 12th century onwards they moved to settle themselves between Anjar and Bhuj and founded the villages of Anjar, Sinugra, Khambhra, Nagalpar, Khedoi, Madhapar, Hajapar, Kukma, Galpadar, Reha, Vidi, Ratnal, Jambudi, Devaliya, Lovaria, Nagor, Chandiya, Meghpar and Kumbharia.[1] [2][3] [4][5]

As per some old records & books of Mistri community Hajapar was also known as Rajapar.

These group of warriors were also talented architects and have contributed in erection of most of the historical architect of Kutch. The Mistris of these villages have built and developed the infrastructre, temples, community halls around the villages in late 19th century. Some of these Mistris made it big during early days of Railways construction by British during 1860-1930 and established themselves as contractors and Coal Mines owners in India.

However, majority of old houses of Mistris with unique architect were destroyed in the earthquake of 26th January, 2001.

Notable persons hailing from this small village are Bhimjee Raja, Govind Karsan, Punja Petha, Jeevan Murji, Ranchhod Nanji Tank, Khimjee Rava, Bhimjee Raghu, Virji Ramji, Jeevram Punja, Jeevram Manji, Naran Heera, Mavji Petha, Ghela Hira, Bhimjee Kanjee, Dana Khoda, Hirji Vishram Parmar, Jairam Premji Yadav, Khengar Ratna, Mavji Manji, Dana Khoda. Among whom Nanji Govindji Tank had built Hanuman Temple & many other facilities at Hajapar. Nanji Govindji Tank of Hajapar built Tatanagar Railway Station. Hirji Vishram Parmar of Hajapar had done Railway works in Assam-Bengal Railway with Nanji & Kumbha Mavji Chawda of Galpadar with Hirji Vishram stationed at Paksey and others at Kustia, both places are now in Bangladesh.[6][7][8]

Temples

Hanuman Mandir built by Nanji Govindji Tank of village is there in outskirts. Thakur Mandir and Kuldevi Temples of many clans of these Kutch Gurjar Kshatriya community are also there in this village for example the there is temple of Pithal Maa, Kuldevi of Parmars of Hajapar, Loharia, etc. is in the village.
