HSCS is the new UK Health and Social Care Survey, previously called the Health Survey for England (HSE).
In 2008 there were proposals to merge the annual HSE with the irregular Adult Dental Health Survey (ADHS), but it was decided to keep the two surveys separate.
Since about 1990, the HSE has been the major data source on health in England.
