PSA HDi engine

The PSA Group sells a variety of diesel automobile engines with the HDi (high-pressure direct injection) designation. Earlier versions were exclusive to Peugeot and Citroën. In 1998, PSA agreed to form a joint venture with Ford Motor Company regarding production of new diesel engines. That partnership makes identical engines available in a variety of car models and marques. The engines are produced in production plants in the cities of Trémery and Douvrin in France and Dagenham in England as well as at Volvo Engine Plant in Skövde Sweden, as part of the agreement with Ford Motor Company.

One half of the group's production of car is fitted with a HDi diesel engine, totalling to approximately 1.8 million vehicles per year (2007).

As a result of a cooperation between BMW Group and PSA, the MINI One D and the MINI Cooper D are also fitted with PSA-made HDi engines.[1]
