Gusi Peace Prize

The Gusi Peace Prize is a Philippines based award recognising individuals working toward the attainment of peace and respect for human life and dignity.[1] [2][3]

The award is given to 10 to 15 persons each year, who must attend the awards night to receive it.[2] Absentees's awards are rescinded. The prize is given to distinguished individuals or groups worldwide with exemplary contributions to peace and human rights, science, or the arts.

The annual awards is run by the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation, an organization based in Manila that performs humanitarian work for poor communities in the Philippines. The foundation was created in 2003 by Barry Gusi.[1] Daniel Amar Siad[4] As Secretary General

The Gusi Peace Prize is mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 1476 signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, declaring every fourth Wednesday of November as the 'Gusi Peace Prize International Friendship Day'.[5]
