Guduvancheri (Tamil: கூடுவாஞ்சேரி) is a suburb of Chennai, the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. It is situated 35 kilometres (22 mi) from Chennai, between Tambaram and Chengalpattu. The pincode for Guduvancheri is 603202.

Guduvancheri is a rapidly-developing town along National Highway 45 that connects Chennai with the cities in southern and western Tamil Nadu. Guduvancheri is a hub for towns like Adhanur, Madambakkam, Kayarambedu, Perumattunallur, Pandur, Karanaipudhucheri, Potheri, Nellikuppam, Thailavaram, Thiruporur and Vellancheri.
Guduvancheri has a railway station, bus stand, upgraded primary health centre [GOVNT], telephone exchange, electricity office, post office, police station and higher secondary schools. The suburb is close to SRM University and its group of institutions: (Valliammai Engineering College, SRM School of Management, SRM Medical College, SRM Hospital, Valliammai Polytechnic, SRM Polytechnic, SRM Institute of Hotel Management, SRM Arts and Science, SRM Pharmacy) which are located in Potheri, 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from Guduvancheri. It is becoming the largest residential area between Tambaram and Chengalpet because of the IT companies in and around Guduvancheri like Accenture, Ford, Mahindra World City and SEZ.
This town is named as Nandivaram-Guduvancheri for administrative purposes. Its status is Panchayat Union, headed by a democratically-elected chairman and served by similarly elected ward members. It is expected to be upgraded to a municipality after the 2010 Census, since the town's population has increased greatly in recent years. The pincode of this town is 603202.
The main part of the town is the area in and around the Bus Stand, Traffic signal and Railway station. The Bus stand is on the eastern side of the highway and Railway station on the west. Police station is behind the bus station. The market is also in the west side.
Nandivaram is the residential area for many years, which is reached through and along the Nandivaram Main Road next to the Government Health Center. The Nandeeswarar temple which is a long standing religious structure in the area is located here. The place gets its name from this temple.
In the northern part is the EB bus stop area where the Electricity Board office is there. Thirumagal Township( Ezhil Tower & PonMalar Tower), Viswanathapuram, Balaji Avenue, Sterling Little Flower Apartments, Mahalakshmi Nagar are the residential areas here. Upcoming apartments like Akshaya homes, Vaikunta are located here near the National Highway 45 NH45, behind EB Bus stop. You have NPR Mahal one of the busiest & high class marriage hall for the Tambaram zone and many supermarkets for all your home grocery needs.
On the south, is the Srinivasapuram area. Canara Bank, Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank, and Guduvancheri's Post office and a bus stop are locatedin this area.
Vallancheri, which also falls under the administration of Guduvancheri, is near the SRM University. Estancia, an integrated township, is being developed here between vallancheri and Thailavaram.
Thailavaram is a nearby village located 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south side of Guduvancheri. Estancia, an integrated township, is being developed here. Thailavaram is a developing village located along National Highway 45 near Guduvancheri that connects Chennai with the cities in southern and western Tamil Nadu.
The village got its name Thailavaram ("Thaila" means Eucalyptus and "varam" means gift literally in Tamil). Eucalyptus Trees are found abundant in this village which are nature's gift.
Nellikuppam Road is another important road which runs from near the Traffic signal towards Nellikuppam in the east. It leads to places like Vishnupriya Nagar, Perumattunallur, and Kayarambedu. The road eventually ends at Thiruporur, making it a vital road connecting GST Road and the coastal areas.
Madambakkam is the area in the west side of Guduvancheri. A road from near the traffic signal runs west crossing the railway track leading to Madambakkam. It is populated by residential settlements.
Adhanur is reached through Madambakkam. It is a village slowly getting populated by residential settlements.
As per 2001 Census data, the population of this town is 26,575 people.[1] The majority of them are Tamil. Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi languages are also prevalently spoken. The town plays host for other state students who study at SRM institutions, migrant workers from North India who are working in large constructions that take place in the area and other state people who work in nearby IT and automobile companies.
Guduvancheri is well connected to Chennai, Chengalpattu and southern cities through road and rail.
Guduvancheri was the last stop for the Chennai Metro Bus Service, Southern area until mid 2007. In 2007, the buses were extended to Maraimalainagar. In 2008, MTC buses were extended to Chengalpet. Most southbound buses stop at Guduvancheri. Buses from Villupuram Transport Corporation like the 122, 121, 521, 139, 83A which go to Melmaruvathur, Tindivanam, Tiruvannamalai, Pondicherry stop here. Even though there is no stage for the town in many long distance buses, these buses pick-up passengers and fare is that of Tambaram. Hence Trichy, Salem, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, etc. buses can be boarded from here.
All local suburban trains will stop in Guduvancheri. The first train from Chengalpattu that goes towards tambaram reaches Guduvancheri at about 4:25 am. This train reaches Tambaram at about 5:00 am. The railway station code of Guduvancheri is GI. This is the code that needs to be used for railway ticket reservations.
Canara Bank, Indian Bank, Corporation Bank, State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, State Bank of Travancore, Karur Vysya Bank and Dena Bank at Guduvancheri. Corporation bank, Indian Bank, State Bank of India also provides ATM facility at Guduvancheri branch. Canara bank provides two ATM one at its branch (Srinivaspuram) and another near Guduvancheri railway station. Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank with ATM is also in Guduvancheri (Srinivasapuram).
Guduvancheri is the "Town of Marriage Halls", as it houses 15 Marriage Halls within 2 km diameter. NPR marriage hall is the biggest hall in Guduvancheri. It’s located near by EB (TNEB - Electricity Board)
Guduvancheri has more than 100,000 houses are there with 500,000 people are living there. Mutthaiya medical center is the biggest hospital in Guduvanchery. SVP GARDEN is the first Gated community in Guduvanchery. Estancia - Chennai's first integrated Township is a joint venture of L&T and Arun Excello pvt. Ltd. It consists of a IT SEZ with More than 2000 Luxury Apartments, Vidhya Mandir school, shopping mall, mutiplexes and hotels.

Guduvancheri houses more than 20 temples (Nantheeshwarar Temple,lakshmi narayanar temple, Mamarathu (Mango tree) Pillayar Temple, Neethe vinayagar Temple, Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Muthumariamman Temple,vaelli amman temple, Puthupalayathu Amman temple and a lot of Amman temples), and churches like C.S.I St. Andrew Church(more than 350 member families), IGM Church and a few Mosques. Nandeeswarar temple is one of the historical temple of Guduvancheri.
Vethathiri Maharishi who founded World Community Service Centre(WCSC), a movement for world peace was born in Guduvancheri in 1911[2] and left earthly abode at the age of 95 in 2006 at Aliyar near Pollachi. He started as weaver from this town and became a great yoga practitioner and preacher apart from becoming a Siddha Expert.
Swamy Ramalinga Adigalar temple is present in mullakazhani and another is near the guduvancheri library.
Guduvancheri is also well known in Movies and TV for its name. Guduvancheri is the largest town between Tambaram and Chengelpat. It is the only town that has a Cinema theater between Tambaram and Chengalpattu, which is Venkateswara Theatre which serves the B-Center and C-center audience.
