Guamúchil, Sinaloa

Guamúchil (Spanish pronunciation: [ɡwaˈmutʃil]), Sinaloa, is a city in northern Mexico 100 km north of Culiacán. The city serves as municipal seat of the municipality of Salvador Alvarado. At the census of 2005 the city had an official population of 61,862 inhabitants. It is the fifth-largest community in the state in population (after Culiacán, Mazatlán, Los Mochis, and Guasave).

The municipal logo consists of:

  1. Left top: the Mochomo mountain and the Evora River referring to its region
  2. Left bottom: the primary elements used in commerce relating to politics, social and cultural life
  3. Right top: the pacific railroad track that initiated the communication for progress in that area
  4. Right bottom: the chickpea as the main product in the region along with cheese and wool.
  5. Center: a man with open arms towards progress.

Overall Guamúchil has been one of the cities that generates the greatest progress to the state.
