Currently, approximately 1900 students attend Grant Community High School and the school is still growing, due to the amount of construction in the area. With a new addition and renovations completed in 2002, Grant is now a two-story 260,000-square-foot (24,000 m2) building that sits on 42 acres (170,000 m2) of property. Another addition is currently being built. The district obtains most or all of its students from four public elementary school districts (Big Hollow, Gavin, Stanton and Palombi) and two private parochial schools (St. Bede, Calvary Christian, and St.Joseph Catholic School ).
Grant Community High School held a referendum on Super Tuesday and passed after the machines in Northern Lake County broke. They had to drive the ballots to the headquarters to count the votes.
Construction of the second new wing has been completed as of January, 2010.
Grant is famous for its wrestling team, featuring home-town hero Lee Munster, 3 time IHSA State Champion who is now wrestling at Northwestern University who is also in the Illinois Hall Of Fame, Jimmy Kennedy (Illinois), John Deneen (Illinois), Daniel Dennis (Iowa), Matt Fiodirosa..etc.
