Gotenica (German: Göttenitz) is an abandoned settlement in the Kočevje municipality in southern Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region.[2]

It was a village settled by Gottschee Germans and was used by the military after the Second World War as a Military exclusion zone. Two churches and a chapel in the settlement were destroyed during and after the Second World War. The village church dedicated to Saint Oswald is mentioned in documents dating from 1363. In around 1500 a walled enclosure was built around the church to protect locals from Ottoman raids. In the 19th century the church was extended. It was demolished in the 1950s. The pilgrimage church, dedicated to Saint Leonard was built in 1652 and also demolished around 1950.[3]
