Goal.com, founded in 2004[2] by Chicco Merighi and former Ferrari Maserati and Ralph Lauren President and CEO Gian Luigi Longinotti-Buitoni, is a website for international football news. Goal.com represents the largest football community in the world, with 22 language versions, covering over 200 countries. Goal.com provides users with the breaking news, live scores, match previews, editorials, exclusives, and latest club news through its interactive web site and community forums.[3]

Goal.com provides live commentary, reports, reactions, and player ratings for the majority of Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A matches, as well as the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and several other international fixtures. Users have the chance to vote for their "top" and "flop" players of the game.[4]
The Goal.com Community was an online community featuring in six languages. The community was a series of forums and threads where users would discuss footballing issues, but the forums have since been disabled. The most common forums were the English, Spanish, and Italian forums.[5] Members of the forum have since relocated to Goal-Legacy.[6]
In September 2009, Goal.com launched Goal.com UK specialising in news from English football exclusively. In November 2010, Goal.com began a partnership with the Bundesliga[7] to look closer at football in Germany and the business model behind a majority of its clubs.
During the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Goal.com had over 20 writers at the tournament. Traffic to Goal.com increased by 143% between April and June 2010 making it the 16th largest sport website according to comScore.[8]
In early 2010, Goal.com launched a video interviews series, Goal.com Meets. Led by Goal.com Founder and President Gian Luigi Longinotti-Buitoni, the series included interviews with high profile figures from the game including then AFC President Mohammed bin Hammam,[9] Bundesliga CEO Christian Seifert[10] and then Barcelona FC President Joan Laporta.[11]
