The Goa Police is the law enforcement agency for the state of Goa in India.
Goa Police comes under direct control of Department of Home Affairs, Government of Goa. The Goa Police is headed by Director General of Police (DGP).[1]
The Goa Police was established in 1966, after the transfer of authority over Goa from the Indian military administration to the civil administration. It replaced the former Portuguese administration's Polícia do Estado da Índia (Police of the State of India), disbanded after the annexation of the Portuguese India by the Indian Union in 1961.
