Gilotar

The Gilotar {गिलोतर अहीर} are a Jat gotra (clan), found in the Punjab province of Pakistan.[1]

History and origin

The Gilotar are entirely confined to Jhang District, and their villages are situated on the banks of the Chenab river. Origin of the Gilotar clan is found from {uch sharif} in india' other than their traditions refer to them having arrived from Hansi, in what is now Haryana, in India. Like the Harals, there are also some traditions which connect the Gilotar with the Ahir ethnic group of North India.[1]

Distribution

Their villages are all in Shorkot Tehsil, and the neighbouring Chiniot District. Their main villages in chiniot are Gandhlanwali and Burj Mal,Burj Umer ,chhani chuhr and Gilotaranwala in Chiniot District.
