History

The Gibbon was invented in 1999 by Peter Allwood of Saffron Walden Rugby Club. Initially intended as a fine for unauthorized behaviour on rugby tour, it has expanded in popularity to local bars and pubs throughout Essex, the UK and the known world.

Preparation and serving

The Gibbon is normally prepared in secret, served with gusto and consumed with dread. After-effects are varied and normally spiral downwards to the gutter.
