Ghonda covers a major area of trans Yamuna like Subhash Vihar, North Ghonda, Bhajnpura, Karawal Nagar, Gamri.
The former MLA of this area was Bhism Sharma (Indian National Congress, INC), but in the assembly election of 2008 this seat has won by Sahab Singh Chauhan (Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP). In 2003 Lok Sabha election it elected Sandeep Dixit (INC), but in the 2009 Lok Aabha election North East Delhi elected Jai Prakash Aggrawal.
