Georgio Allentini is an African-American funk and dance music singer/songwriter/keyboardist/guitarist from San Francisco, California. He goes by the stage name Georgio. In 1987 he had several songs chart on the Hot 100, although none climbed any higher than #58. He was much more successful on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, where he earned four Top 10 hits, including "Tina Cherry," which hit #1.[1] Although his dance-electronica songs became hits, his overconfidence and insulting attacks on the talent of Prince and Michael Jackson limited his radio exposure.[2]
Recently, Georgio has made the transition to filmmaker with the 2003 release of Tapped Out, which also starred Coolio, Alex Avant and Jimmy Bridges. The film was written, co-produced and co-directed by Georgio, who also composed music for its soundtrack. He also worked at MIG Records.
Georgio has a son, Georgio Jr., with actress Kelly Jo Minter.
