George Willis (9 November 1926 – 25 May 2011) was an English footballer who played as an inside forward.

Playing career

Willis played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, during the war guesting for Port Vale and Crewe Alexandra in 1946. In 1947 he moved on to Brighton & Hove Albion and after 13 goals in 28 games moved on to Plymouth Argyle in 1949. Willis represented the club for the next seven years, scoring 14 goals in 59 appearances.[1] He joined Exeter City in 1956,[2] and spent a year there before a spell in non-league football with Taunton Town.

Personal life

Willis had two children with June, his wife, called Roy and Lynda,[3] and two children from a previous marriage called Patricia and Tony. He was a grandfather to Kate and Emily.[3] His stepson was Lemmy Kilmister, lead singer and bassist of Motörhead.[4] Willis died on 25 May 2011, aged 84.[3]
