Gavin "Golden" Brown is a multi-platinum, multi-Juno Award-winning Canadian record producer, songwriter, and musician.
Brown is based in Toronto, Canada and Los Angeles, California. Having worked with a variety of acts, Gavin is best known for both his ability to develop and break young artists, and his ability to make career records with already successful acts. He is attributed with developing Three Days Grace, Billy Talent, and The Midway State. He is also acclaimed for his success with alt-rock act Metric.
Gavin co-wrote the first two Three Days Grace records, self titled and One-X and produced the self-titled record. He is well known for hits like "I Hate Everything About You", "Pain" and "Never Too Late" which went on to sell millions of records. He also found Billy Talent and produced two records with the band, Billy Talent I and Billy Talent II. In April 2004, Brown was awarded the Juno Award for Producer of the Year, for the Billy Talent and Three Days Grace albums. He produced the Cancer Bats record Birthing The Giant which went on to have success in Canada. Brown also produced important Canadian records for Thornley and The Tea Party. He has also collaborated with successful rock acts like Theory of a Deadman, Halestorm, Thousand Foot Krutch and had a hit with Skillet in 2010 co-writing the song "Monster" from their record Awake.
Gavin produced Metric's break-out record Fantasies[1]which went on to have massive world-wide success. He also produced Metric's Grammy Nominated[2] "Eclipse"[3][4] -- the lead song in box office smash film Twilight Eclipse. Brown maintains a close relationship with the band and has already started work on the new record.
He has proven to be much more than a rock producer/writer by collaborating with pop acts like Lady Gaga, Boys Like Girls, and New Kids on the Block. On the Canadian pop side, Brown has recently been collaborating with Stereos.

In 2008, a television show was aired on YTV called The Next Star that he guest starred on. Brown was also involved in Much Music's disBAND in 2010. He has spoken on panels ranging from Canadian Music Week to Toronto Indie Week[5] to CMJ in New York. He also co-owns a record label with Mathieu Drouin called Remedy Music, the label is one of Canada's hottest up-and-coming labels. In fall of 2011, Gavin Brown was one of the producers and stars on CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation)'s hit show Cover Me Canada which features contestants covering some of the biggest songs to come out of Canada. The tv show showcased Gavin as a charismatic producer and visionary and showed behind the scenes footage with him the contestants in the studio, over 10 episodes.
Gavin is currently writing and/or producing songs for Boys Like Girls, Metric, Skillet, Cavo, Stereos, Hoobastank, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Dashboard Confessional, Thousand Foot Krutch, TVTV, Down with Webster, Decyfer Down, Shiloh, and more. Additionally, he is currently writing new songs with David Hodges, Lindy Robbins, Chris DeStefano, Greg Wells, Jess Cates, Martin Johnson, Chris Carrabba, Dan Hill, Keith Follese, Simon Wilcox, Jeremy Popoff, Liz Rodrigues, Anna Wayland, Mitzi Dawn, TAWGS (Salter), Harry Hess, and more. Extra collaborations include Kara Dioguardi and Chad Kroeger.
In early 2011, Gavin Brown was named A&R at Universal Canada[1] working closely with Mark Spicoluk and head of label, Randy Lennox. As an important part of Canadian culture and the Universal system, Brown plans to sign, develop, co-write, and produce more successful records for not just Canadian artists, but great artists on a global level, while under his new Universal tenure.
Gavin has also written and produced material for The Midway State, New Kids on the Block, The Envy, Alexandra Slate, Cancer Bats, Thornley, The Reason, The Tea Party, Danny Michel, Out of Your Mouth, Ryan Malcolm, Sarah Harmer, and Stereos. Brown also plays drums, bass and guitar, and has appeared on recordings by Big Sugar, Hayden, Crash Vegas, Skydiggers, Spookey Ruben, Jim Cuddy, Phleg Camp, Betty Moon, Andrew Walker, Danko Jones, Lifelike Weeds, and more.
