Garulia
Garulia (Bengali: গারুলিয়া) is a town and a municipality under Noapara police stations of Barrackpore subdivision[2] in North 24 Parganas district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority.[3] Garulia Municipality is sub-divided into 12 wards for the purpose of municipal election and functions.

Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[5] Garulia had a population of 76,309. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Garulia has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 67%. In Garulia, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Healthcare
North 24 Parganas district has been identified as one of the areas where ground water is affected by arsenic contamination.[6]
