The Gandhi Memorial International School (GMIS) was founded in 1950, and is an international school in Jakarta, Indonesia. GMIS has a long history of providing high quality, rigorous education since it's establishment. The students of grades 1 to 12 moved to a new campus in 2004 located in Kemayoran (Central Jakarta), while the old campus houses the Pre-School. GMIS is a hub for over 2000 students from around the globe from more than 50 countries. A majority of the students come from India, Indonesia and South Korea. GMIS was one of the first schools in Indonesia to gain the prestigious status of an IB world school. The school offers their students learning options from Nursery, PYP, MYP, IGCSE, O Level Science and Commerce, and the Full International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The GMIS follows the IB curriculum and is taught by professional and experienced teachers. Mr. Ashok Pal Singh is the current principal of the school

The GMIS is affiliated and accredited University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (IGCSE, O Level & A Level Examinations), Board of Secondary Education, Association of Indian Universities, Australian Music Examinations Board (Melbourne), University of Delhi and the University of Mumbai. GMIS is authorised to deliver the IB DIploma. According to the Jakarta Globe, the school ranks 28 out of 100 for tax evasion.[1]
All GMIS students are known for their enthusiasm in the area of extracurricular activities. They are known as a formidable force in interscholastic sports such as soccer and cricket.
In GMIS each grade presents its own annual play right from the nursery to grade 12. The school also hosts many inter-school sports and activities.
GMIS provides all the essential facilities and more for students, teachers and parents to use. Modern equipment is used in the library, computer labs, music and seminar rooms, classrooms, etc. The school also recently built a thousand seater auditorium, which features high quality acoustic and heuristic equipment and cinematic type lighting. It's cafeteria consists of 10 different stalls which serve delicious Indonesian, Indian and South Korean Cuisine. Wi-fi access (SLOWW :P) was recently added to provide convenience for all students bringing laptops and tablet-pc's. The qualified coordinators provide advice for higher education. Each student is also provided basic amenities such as lockers. The swimming pool forms an essential part of all Physical Education activities and the new wing features new classrooms, science labs and rooms for the Performing Arts Drama classes.
GMIS came into spotlight recently for not paying tax to the government.[2]The school was criticized for concealing the total amount of money it made. It remains unresolved.
