Pulse is the sole representative of Social-Democratic students in Malta, set up in May 1997. It extends to the University of Malta, the Junior College and other post-secondary schools with a structure that accommodates members from these diverse environments. Pulse works upon three major sectors that include: Student Representation by means of internal structures and also by means of external representatives elected on several boards and councils, Student Services by means of its activities and facilities, and Student Policies through its documents and positions that are taken from time to time. Pulse got its name from their logo, that of a hearbeat graph which signifies the organization's keen interest in students' concerns.
Pulse's structure is made up of the Annual General Meeting, the Executive made up of 9 members, a University Representative Academic Board, a Junior College Committee, and special co-ordination roles regarding other post-secondary areas. It is also made up of several commissions set-up by the executive from time to time to address specific issues.
Pulse currently occupies the Junior College Student Council, having all its seven candidates elected in this same Council. Pulse is also a member of the National Youth Council.
