It is bordered by Ethiopia, the Somalian regions of Mudug, Hiiraan, Shabeellaha Dhexe (Middle Shabele), and the Indian Ocean.
Galguduud's capital is Dhusamareb, and its largest city and commercial center is Abudwak.
