Gaindakot

Gaindakot is a small town of Gaindakot Municipality of Nawalparasi district, next to Narayangarh, Chitwan in Nepal. The official name of this place is Adarsha Gaindakot Village development committee and lies in Nawalparasi District of Nepal. It lies in the bank of Narayani River and is backed by numerous mountains. Since this village is just across the famous Narayanghat (or Bharatpur, Nepal) city, it has got ample opportunities for development and the population has been growing at a fast pace. Also due to the rise in the price of land in urban areas people have turned their way into this place as it is very near from a city and is relatively cheaper and peaceful.

There are several small to big industries in Gaindakot. Bhrikuti Pulp and Paper factory being the nation's only paper factory. Gaindakot has got numerous small scale textile industries, boring industries, metal industries and gas refilling industries.

Gaindakot is very famous for its plan land suitable for agriculture. Rice, wheat, mustard, corn, and potato are among the crops grown across the seasons.

There are several schools in this small town, educating thousands of children.

Gaindakot is famous nationwide for Maula Kalika Temple, a temple which lies at the top of a mountain and where people have to go on stairs climbing around 2 km. From this temple, several districts of Nepal can be viewed, as it lies at the top of a very high mountain.

A major highway passes through Gaindakot and connecting two big cities Narayangadh and Butwal. Except this highway,that passes through there is only a very small length of black tarred road, otherwise the roads are mostly graveled or just muddy ways.

Nepal's Only paper factory "Bhrikuti Paper and Pulp" lies in Gaindakot. But due to some unknown reasons the factory has been shut down.

Geography

Gaindakot is situated at an altitude of about 150m from sea level. It is surrounded by small hills in the northern side where as to the south there is Narayani river.
