GRES Império da Praça Seca (Empire of Praça Seca) is a samba school of Rio de Janeiro (city). The school shall be located behind the IPASE da Praça Seca (IPASE of Dry Square), a condominium that faces the community Chacrinha, in Rua Cândido Benicio. A land of an old abandoned work was purchased in the community of IPASE and it will be the new block of the school. However, provisionally, the court used is in front, the Clube dos Veteranos (Old Timers Club).[1]
For its location, near the neighborhood unofficial Mato Alto, school was almost called "Império do of Mato Alto" (Empire of Mato Alto), and a few t-shirts with that name came to be made up, but just before the official founding date of the name was changed as a way to honor the your neighborhood, Praça Seca (Dry Square).
Preparations for the establishment of the school began in May 2009, and initially the guild would parade for evaluation only, not compete. After the official founding in August, due to Sacramento to give up on parade in the carnival, the Praça Seca took his place in the same way as Sacramento had also entered in place of the former Foliões de Botafogo.
