Life and career

Early life

Growing up in Manchester, England, Manzur was a skateboarder, playing in a punk pop band at college, however had a real passion for re-creating the electronic melodies, power synth chords, and the sound inspired by nostalgia, the 80s, sci-fi, fantasy and ideas behind youth imaginations.

Musical career

With his musical experience consolidating a wide, eclectic range of tastes, Manzur entered University, took the same course as Peter, and a friendship was formed.[1]

After University, Peter was djing nightclubs, while Manzur spent all of this time re-creating the sound of his childhood, with no previous knowledge of electronic production. He was armed with a laptop, a broken midi keyboard and a pirated music program. Manzur and Peter both combined each other's musical journeys; thus Futurecop! was born.[2]

In 2009, they signed with LA based label Iheartcomix in the USA & Canada along with Fatboy Slim's label Southern Fried Records for their debut EP “The Unicorn & the Lost City of Alvograth,” the EP was a selection of instrumental / soundtrack style tracks based around an imaginative Movie from their childhood. They have performed their electronic live shows all over the world including: Miami WMC, SXSW Festival, The Big Chill Festival.[3]

Thanks to internet attention from popular blogs and support from Diplo, Crystal Castles, Tiesto, Cobra Starship, Peter Wentz, 3OH!3 and DJ AM, Futurecop! gained a significant following. Remixes of their popular tracks “N.A.S.A” and “Transformers,” garnered Futurecop! additional acclaim. The Futurecop! brand also spawned a massive following from various creative industries such as music, film, design and art.

They had another hit on Green Label Sound with “Hum Drum Town,” featuring vocals by Theophilus London. Futurecop! has been compared to groups like Justice and Daft Punk.

From 2010 to 2011, Futurecop! toured with a full band. This led to the creation of their second EP (The Adventures of Starpony), which was recorded in Manchester, this time with vocals. In Mid 2011, Futurecop! released the EP with Rob Hitt's acclaimed label Sleepover Party, with tracks reaching top 5 in the Hype Machine Popular Charts.

In late 2011, their remix of The Naked & Famous's 'Young Blood,' blew up in the House/Club scene, with international DJs such as Tiesto, playing the track on their sets all over the world.
