Funfields (previously as The Whittlesea Alpine Toboggan Park) is an Australian amusement park located in Whittlesea, Victoria. It is geographically located 40 km north of Melbourne.[1] It features several rides for guests of all ages.[2] The park opened in 1985.
Funfields is home to 14 rides designed for guests of all ages. The Kidzone is designed specifically for kids and features three rides.[3] It includes: Formula Fun Go Karts (a set of children's go-karts),[4] Jungle Express (a train ride),[5] and Pony Express (a carousel).[6]
The rest of the park is made up of attractions designed for all ages. The park opened in 1985 as the Whittlesea Alpine Toboggan Park featuring toboggan rides. This ride, known as The Great Alpine Toboggan Slide still exists at the park.[7] Thunder Dome is a set of go-karts which are modelled on 1950s and 1960s sport cars. The track is 400 metres (1,300 ft) long.[8]
Funfields is also the home of Blackbeard's Fury. This ride is a pirate ship attraction which was previously located at Sea World on the Gold Coast.[9] Crocodile Creek, an 18 hole mini golf course is located behind Blackbeard's Fury.[10]
The park also has a collection of water rides. Bumpa Bay is a set of electric bumper boats.[11] "Blackout" and "Wipe Out" are tandem tube slides which are fully enclosed.[12] The third water attraction is Splashdown. Splashdown is a series of flume slides in which guests ride on a foam mat.[13]
The most recent addition to the park is the Wacky Waters Play Area. The new attraction is a spectacular children’s wading pool with more than twenty fun-filled interactive play features. Mushroom fountains, water cannons, water jets, water slides and heaps of other wacky surprises will delight kids of all ages. The centre piece of Wacky Waters is the Aqua Shak.....the Aqua Shak fills with water until it spectacularly unleashes 2000 litres of water saturating everyone in range. Seeing is believing. Put it on your 'must do' list this year! And bring your sun block and bathers. [14]
