Fujiwara no Tametoki (藤原 為時 ) (died 1029?) was a Japanese poet, scholar of Chinese and the father of Murasaki Shikibu (Lady Murasaki", author of The Tale of Genji). He served as the governor (kami) of Echizen Province, during which time he had a daughter Murasaki in 970 or 973.
He was also governor in Harima and Echigo, and served in the "Shikibu" or "Bureau of Ceremonial", which became part of his daughter's nickname.[1]
Scholars do not agree about the years of his birth or death,[2] although some give his death year as 1029.[1]
