L'Adroit (formerly Hermes) is a Gowind class patrol ship built with DCNS financing and to be handed over to the French Navy.[2]
L'Adroit was proposed by DCNS as a contender for French Navy plans to build a fleet of small, multipurpose warships to operate in the littoral zone.

DCNS's team includes Piriou (Concarneau) and STX France (Lorient). Construction of L'Adroit began in May 2010 and she was christened on 17 June 2011.[3] Her sea trials began on 27 July.[4] The ship was made available to the French Navy in a ceremony on 21 October 2011.[5] While still the property of DCNS, she will operate for the navy until 2014.[5]
The ship is a semi-planing steel monohull. It is 285.43 feet (87 m) in length, displaces 1,450 metric tons. The design incorporates a flight deck with integrated helicopter or UAS [1] launch, recovery and handling system and the capability to launch and recover boats (manned and unmanned) from the stern.
According to The Hindu, DCNS is offering L'Adroit as well as the Mistral class amphibious assault ship to the Indian Navy.[6]
