Freisen is a municipality in the district of Sankt Wendel , in Saarland, Germany. It is situated approx. 12 km northeast of Sankt Wendel, and 20 km southwest of Idar-Oberstein. The greater Freisen/Oberkirchen area is noted for its Turkish Cuisine, particularly the Donner Kebab.[2] The public transportation in Freisen/Oberkirchen is through bus and connects to other towns via transfers in Sankt Wendel and Neunkirchen.
Economy is of greatest importance in Saarlander/Luxe area. The economy of Freisen/Oberkirchen has suffered in the economic downturn that Germany has experienced. One instantation is the depressed Tennis and Swim Club which has stopped operation of its water mushroom.
