Fraser Nelson

Fraser Nelson is a British political journalist and editor of The Spectator magazine.

Early life

Educated at Nairn Academy and Dollar Academy, Nelson went on to study History at the University of Glasgow and Journalism at City University, London.

Journalism career

Nelson was previously political editor of The Scotsman and a business reporter with The Times.

In addition to his role as editor of The Spectator, Nelson was also a political columnist for the News of the World and a board director with the Centre for Policy Studies think tank.[1][2] Having been political editor of The Spectator, he took over from Matthew d'Ancona as editor of the magazine in August 2009.[1] He was named Political Columnist of the Year in the 2009 Comment Awards.[3]

Style

Nelson is an economic libertarian and a supporter of the Conservative Party and traditional conservative policies, and he has on occasion criticised David Cameron's leadership. Recently he has begun to praise Nick Clegg.[4]
