Frank Rogers is a fictional character in the British soap opera, Brookside, played by Peter Christian from 1987 until the character's demise in November 1993. He died in hospital on his wedding day, shortly after being injured in a car crash that was caused by Jimmy Corkhill. His passenger Tony Dixon died in hospital four months later.

Introduction

The Rogers family were introduced in 1987, initially renting No7 from Harry Cross. Later in 1989, Frank buys the larger No 5 and the family move-in in place of the Grant family.

Career

Frank is an ambitious lorry driver who has been promised a desk-job, which has yet to come.[1] On the advice of his wife Chrissy, he drives his lorry down to London to meet with the management and find out why he has not yet received a promotion. While down in London his lorry is stolen and he ends up facing a disciplinary hearing.

Marriage to Chrissy

When the Rogers family are introduced, Frank is married to Chrissy Rogers. Their marriage has its strains, particularly while their daughter Sammy Rogers is in a coma following a car accident.[2] This results in further stress after Sammy pulls through she becomes an alcoholic. The couple split up in 1991.

Marriage to Lyn

Frank meets Lyn Mathews at her brothers funeral in 1992. The pair become close and eventually start seeing each other. After Lyn becomes pregnant with Frank's baby, the couple marry in November 1993.

Death and legacy

Car accident

Following his wedding Frank sets off for his reception with Tony Dixon in the car. Jimmy Corkhill at the time is driving after a heavy cocaine session and his erratic driving forces Frank off the road. Frank dies instantly and Tony later dies after four months in a coma.

Frank's unborn baby

Following his death Lyn Rogers is still carrying his unborn baby. Following a scuffle with Frank's eldest daughter Sammy, Lyn miscarries, leaving Sammy distraught.
