Forcipomyiinae is a subfamily of biting midges. In this subfamily, both anterior and posterior prolegs are present on larvae. Larvae are both terrestrial and aquatic, and feed primarily on algae and fungi. Some species in the genus Forcipomyia are important pollinators of cacao.
