In 2004, the municipality of Fomento had a population of 33,528.[3] With a total area of 471 km2 (182 sq mi),[2] it has a population density of 71.2 /km2 (184 /sq mi).
Note: Güinia de Miranda does not belong to the municipality of Fomento. Güinia de Miranda belongs to the province of Villa Clara.
It is a very small town and there isn't a whole lot to do but sit, drink coffee and eat. However you can go to El Rio Agabama and swim to be refreshed. There is also a rock formation called La Piedra Gorda (the fat rock). You can take in a great view of the area but it is restricted to nationals since there are national security interests there. In reality you can get photos of the area from many and there is nothing of great importance there.
Ironically, the town has a developed zone (La Zona Desarollada) which in essence means that the buildings are relatively nicer but nothing would be considered modern construction from western standards.
