Festigal (Hebrew: פסטיגל) is an annual Israeli singing show for audience of children and their parents during the Hanukkah vacation time. Initially designed as a song contest, its format was gradually expanded, with famous Israeli singers and actors taking part in it.[1] Now the Festigal event is built around some theme or story.
The first Festigal took place in Haifa in 1981. Since then it is being held in many places over the country. It is among the largest events during Hanukkah. For example, in 2006 about 18 million NIS were allocated for the concerts.[1][2]
In 2005, the theme was "Holding Out for a Hero"[3] (cf. the song with this title).
In 2010, the theme was the story of two kids lost in the museum at night among the exposition coming to life and showing pieces of history.
