Ferrari World is a Ferrari themed amusement park on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.[1] The park is situated under a 200,000 square metres (2,200,000 sq ft)[2] roof making it the largest indoor amusement park in the world.[3] Ferrari World officially opened on November 4, 2010.[5] The theme park is home to Formula Rossa, the world's fastest roller coaster.[6]

In late 2005, it was reported that Ferrari and Aldar Properties signed an agreement to build the world's first Ferrari theme park in Abu Dhabi. At the time it was expected that the park was to open in 2008,[7] however, delays saw it bumped back until 2010. Construction began in November 2008 and was completed in under two years.[8] In mid 2010, it was announced that Ferrari World would open on October 28, 2010.[1][2] This opening was delayed by a week due to the passing of Ras al-Khaimah's leader the day prior.[9] Ferrari World officially opened to the public on November 4, 2010.[5]
After only one year of operation, Ferrari World already had to lay off more than 100 employees in December 2011 and reduce opening hours due to low attendance.[10]
The iconic roof of Ferrari World was designed by Benoy Architects.[11] It is modelled after the side profile of a Ferrari GT. Ramboll provided the structural engineering, masterplanning and urban design, geotechnical engineering and the facade engineering.[12] The roof has a total surface area of 200,000 square metres (2,200,000 sq ft) with a perimeter of 2,200 metres (7,200 ft). The theme park, measuring 86,000 square metres (930,000 sq ft), is located under this 50 metres (160 ft) high roof. These factors make Ferrari World the largest indoor theme park in the world.[1]
A Ferrari logo adorns the roof of the building and measures 65 metres (213 ft) by 48.5 metres (159 ft) - the largest Ferrari logo ever created.[3][13] 12,370 tonnes of steel has been used to support this roof.[1] The centre of the roof is marked by a 100-metre (330 ft) glazed funnel.[11] The structure was declared complete on 29 October 2009 with the park due to open one year later.[1][14]
Jack Rouse Associates, a Cincinnati based visitor experience design firm, is responsible for the design of most of the park's 20 rides.[1][15] On July 20, 2010 Ferrari World announced the names of all of the opening day attractions.[16]
Guests can purchase merchandise from several retail outlets throughout the park including the largest Ferrari Store in the world and a Ferrari boutique capable of creating personalised souvenirs. The food and beverage outlets aim to provide a true Italian dining experience.[27]
