The Featherlite Corporation began as a Texas-based, privately held company in 1949. Originally, Featherlite operated lightweight, expanded shale aggregate facilities. In 1976, Featherlite was acquired by Acme Brick. By 1990, the company was a prominent producer of concrete masonry products in the southwest.
The Featherlite Corporation should not be confused with Featherlite Trailers, an aluminum trailer manufacturer located in northeast Iowa, or Featherlite Coaches.
