Farrokh Shahr (Persian: فرخ شهر; formerly, Qahferokh, Qahofrokh, Qatarokh, and Qehfarukh)[1] is a city in the Central District of Shahrekord County, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 28,920, in 7,532 families.[2]
Farrokh Shahr is located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) from the provincial capital, Shahrekord. Most of the people who live in this city work in agriculture and industrial centers around the province. Driving the trucks and governmental jobs like teaching are the most popular jobs in the city.
Sarcheshme Park is one of the beautiful and attractive sites of Farrokh Shahr. Farrok Sshahri people are used to go to this park for holidays especially in summers and springs.
Farrokhshahri people are very interested in literature and poetry. Some of the famous poets of Iran were born in Farrok Sshahr, like Asef, Sabet and Emami. Soraya Esfandiari, the second wife of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi was born in Farrokh Shahr and spent part of her childhood in the city. Her father's castle in the city was recently destroyed. The people of Farrokh Shahr are Persian and speak the Persian language.
