History

In 1990, the Panama Catholic Church took the initiative to reactivate Channel 5 Station with help of important businessmen. By selling Cable Onda 90 shares they got the funding to pay Panavision and Telecinco ex employees and Cofina (government financial entity). FETV got the station´s equipment and rights to operate nationwide.

For many months you could see the station logo and slogan "Abriendo Horizontes", all day long. On April 1, 1992 the station went to air with 4 hours programming.

Their programming still until these days is for educational and cultural porpuse, even they have full commercial license (valued around 400 millon USD), with lack of commercials, the station operates by donations. In 2009 they signed a 3 way deal, with the nation´s top 2 TV stations rivals, to avoid sale of the station to international broadcasters. FETV was the first station to cover Darien Province.
