Eärwen (pronounced "eh-ar-wen", not "ear-wen", translated to "Sea Maiden") is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. She is the daughter of Olwë of Alqualondë, and the wife of Finarfin and mother of Galadriel.

She bore three sons as well as Galadriel to Finarfin: Finrod, Angrod, and Aegnor. She also had several brothers.[1] She stayed in Aman after the flight of the Noldor. She is said to be best friends with Anairë, Fingolfin's wife. She presumably still lives with Finarfin. She is Thingol's niece and Lúthien Tinúviel's cousin.

She was reputed to be quite beautiful: "Eärwen's hair is stated to have been "starlike silver", like Olwë's, and her son Finrod inherited from her "a love of the sea and dreams of far lands that he had never seen".[2]

It is probable that after the exile of the Noldor, Eärwen became queen of Eldamar alongside Finarfin.
