Evanger is a village and a former municipality in Vaksdal municipality, Hordaland county, Norway.

The village of Evanger is located in the western part of Voss, in the eastern end of the lake Evangervatnet. It was designated to be a municipality by a split from Voss on January 1, 1885. At that time Evanger had a population of 2,045. On 1 January 1964 the districts of Bergsdalen and Eksingedalen with 251 inhabitants were merged with Bruvik and a part of Modalen to create the new municipality Vaksdal. The rest of Evanger, with 1,075 inhabitants, was reunited with Voss.
Evanger hydroelectric power plant (Evanger kraftverk) is built in the mountains at Evanger Lake. The power plant started production in 1969 and was modified in 1977. The power plant is supplied through a 34.3 km long tunnel from the intake reservoir in Askjeldalsvatnet. The tunnel has a vertical drop of 770 m. The power plant receives water from Eksingedalen and Teigdalsvassdragene. The power station is equipped with three Pelton turbines and is owned and operated by BKK. [1]
Evanger Church (Evanger kirke) dates from 1851. It was built of wood and has 250 seats.
