Establishment

Establishment can mean the act of establishing (permanently setting up) something, as well as that which has been established, by such an act or otherwise.

In human society, establishment or The Establishment may refer to:

• The Establishment, the dominant group or elite holding the effective power or authority in an organization, society, or field of endeavour, in particular when viewed as being opposed to change
• Establishment (church), the official sanction and support of a church by a nation's government
  • Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, pronouncements in the United States Constitution forbidding the Congress from involvement in the establishment of a religion
• Freedom of establishment, the right of EU nationals to establish themselves economically in any member state
• Establishment (Pakistan) a term referring to Pakistan's dominant military-civil oligarchy
• The Establishment (club), the English satire club founded in the early 1960s by Peter Cook

In biology, seedling establishment is a stage in the developing independence of a plant seedling.
