Ernesto Piedras is an economist professor in the ITAM-London School of Economics and General Director of The Competitive Intelligence Unit, S.C.[1] Besides the telecommunications industry, he has occupied several positions in the Public Administration, in the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público, Secretaría de Programación y Presupuesto, Comisión Federal de Electricidad and Presidencia de la República.

Private activities

In 2008 he was acknowledged as an opinion leader on telecommunications market and regulatory issues. Besides he is a regular contributor in specialized magazines, like Este País, Revista Red and Boletin Canieti, as well as the weekly column "Estrategias Telecom" in the national newspaper El Economista, occasionally contributing on other diverse publications. Also he participates as a member of the Publishing Board of the Business section of Reforma.

Academic activities

In the academic sector he worked as the Coordinator of the programme on Telecommunications Strategic Analysis Diploma, at the ITAM, 2006 and 2007. Also he is a part-time Professor at the Economics Department of ITAM, as well as in the MSc and Diploma on Public Politics since 2002.
