Epwell is a village and civil parish in the north of Oxfordshire about 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Banbury. Its toponym is believed to be derived from the Old English Eoppa's Well.[2]
The Church of England parish church of Saint Anne was originally built in the Early English style. Several of the present windows were added later in the Decorated Gothic style. Next the bell tower was added in the Perpendicular Gothic style. Finally two windows on the north side of the church were added late in the 16th century.[3]
The village has a public house, the Chandlers Arms, that belongs to the Hook Norton Brewery.[4]
