Epapterus is a genus of catfishes (order Siluriformes) of the family Auchenipteridae. It includes two species, E. blohmi and E. dispilurus.[1]

E. blohmi is distributed in the Orinoco River basin and Tuy River of the Caribbean coast of Venezuela.[1] E. blohmi grows to 8.5 cm (3.3 in) SL. It is found in a variety of habitats where there is poor visibility and the water is still or slow-flowing. It feeds on filamentous algae and other plant material during the dry season.[2]

E. dispilurus is distributed in the central and western parts of the Amazon River basin along and south of the main channel of the Amazon River, and Paraguay River basin in Paraguay, northern Argentina and southern Brazil.[1] E. dispilurus grows to 12.3 cm (4.8 in) SL. It inhabits the lower part of larger rivers. They are nocturnal, but are also active during dusk and dawn. They feed on smaller fish.[3]
